Sangam Kala Group USA is an independent, non-profit incorporated association affiliated to Sangam Kala Group, India. (SKG India). Our objective is to sustain and promote Indian Music, Dance, Drama and related cultural activities including bollywood entertainment. We are holding a “Surtarang” Talent Hunt Quest/ Singing Audition in Naperville - A Vibrant Chicago Suburb to find potential local participants for the Surtarang Finals in New Delhi. Our responsibility is as far as the Indian Surtarang Singing Competition is concerned in merely to identify potential participants for that competition. Once this is done than our role is complete.

Sangam Awards...

Today the group has attained an enviable image. In a nutshell, the group has patronised and promoted the cause of our music, our art, our culture. And it continues to march towards its goal holding the light of music high. We believe in national integration through music. We invite all music lovers to join and unite, spread, and promote the cause.

In this event every year the group presents Ssangam Awards, like "Sangam Legendary Award", "Life Time Achievement" award, "Contribution to Music", "Patronage to Music", "Best Music Teacher", "Promotion of Music”, "Best Music Critic", and other awards for best music direction, playback singers etc. The Sangam Legendary Award has been conferred on Shri B.R. Chopra and for year 2002 to Shri Amitabh Bacchan and Shri Sardar Malik, well-known music director. Life Time Achievement Award has been received by Shri Mahendra Kapoor and Smt. Usha Uthup.

The Award for Contribution to Music has been received by eminent music personalities like the late Shri Jaidev, Shri Ravi, Shri Ravinder Jain, Jagjit and Chitra Singh, Ghulam Ali, Bhupinder & Mitali, Anup Jalota, Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Pankaj Udhas, Rajender and Nina Mehta, Kalyanji Anandji, Late Pandit Amar Nath, Shri Naushad Ali, Smt. B.R.ChopraB.R. Chopra elder brother of Yash Chopra one of India's most respected film personalities, has been an architect of what is now known as the golden era of the Bollywood industry. Having converted off beat stories into immortal classics like Waqt (1965) and Naya Daur (1957), he commands high regard in the world film fraternity. B.R. Chopra has always endeavored to make socially relevant films, which at the same time try to cater to popular sentiment. For instance, Naya Daur (1957), Kanoon (1960), Gumrah (1963) and Ittefaq (1969). In 1999, B.R. Chopra was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian Cinema. B.R. Films turned to television in 1985 and made several successful television programs, the most successful of the being the serial Mahabharat (1988), based on the Hindu epic. Perhaps the most popular serial in the history of Indian cinema, it entered the Guinness Book of World record.

Yash ChopraLabeled the eternal romantic and with one of the best musical senses in the business, Yash Chopra is arguably India's most successful director of romantic films. Yash Chopra's career spans over five decades, with major successes in every one of those decades and more than 40 films to his credit, most of which have created box-office history. Yash Chopra directed his first movie, Dhool Ka Phool in 1959. Encouraged by this success, the Chopra brothers made a few more movies together, the most notable being Waqt (1965), India's first multi-starrer; and Ittefaq (1969), a thriller. Although he made action-oriented films like the ever-popular Deewaar (1975), it is in tackling love and its various aspects that he has been at his best. In 1973, the Chopra brothers separated, with Yash Chopra founding his studio, Yash Raj Films.

PanditPandits Rajan and Sajan Mishra are two of the most beloved and highly regarded vocalists in India. They are perhaps the most successful Hindustani vocal duo of our time. They are also the foremost exponents of Benaras Vocal Gharana. Rajan Mishra and Pandit Sajan Mishra belong to the family of great maestros. Both brothers were trained in vocal music under the able guidance of their father, Pandit Hanuman Mishra. Later they were trained by the famous sarangi player Pt. Gopal Prasad Mishra and Pt. Bade Ramdas Mishra. Mishra brothers have opened Gurukuls in Benaras and Dehradun, where students are trained in the classical trdaition of guru-shishya parampara. Sons of Rajan Mishra, Ritesh and Rajnish Mishra are the primary disciples of the Mishra brothers and are keeping the family tradition going.
